This guitar strap was custom made for Mick's wonderful Minarik guitar. It has inlays of Fish and Cane Toad leather.
Cane Toads were introduced to Australia from Hawaii in June 1935 in an attempt to control Sugar Cane Beetles. They have since then spread over a very large area of Northern Australia where they are a considered a threat to a lot of our native species. The hides are rather small but very distinctive with its knobbly texture.
the guitar strap is constructed with 2.5mm embossing vegetable tanned cowhide leather on top and lined with a navy blue Suede . It also has a central core of 1.5 mm vegetable tanned leather as a backing for the inlays .
It is hand painted and hand stitched right around with a good thick Nylon cord. The button holes are re enforced with kangaroo leather and the adjustment is by way of 2 Pelham hooks as used in my plainer guitar straps but with the addition of a leather flap to cover the hooks.
The strap has arrived safely and is beautiful. Looks great on the guitar. Many thanks for designing and making this for me. When I get a minute, I'll take some pics and send them to you.
