Mad Max Guitar Strap # 147

Custom made for Pete in Los Angeles

Here my brief was to make a Mad Max influenced guitar strap. I think it turned out great and if Max Rotansky played guitar he certainly would wear THAT.

Various vegetable tanned leather were used , goat skin for its grain and because its thin on the shoulder which is also padded to add interest and because Max would have had it padded there. The rest is mostly 2.5 mm cowhide leather ..

Each pieces have been aged before assembly There is an old zipper on the shoulder with the leather attached , its turned over the edge nearing the wearer's neck, a knife hole on the back which has been mended . The cartridge front loops and pouch has been ripped and Max's dog started chewing one of the ends of the adjusting straps .

The nickel plaited buckles are also aged. . None of the ageing compromises the strap as they are all surface scratches .

The whole strap is lined with garment leather and is stitched as per usual right around with a strong nylon wax cord and the button holes are lined with kangaroo leather and reinforced with stitching and there is a loop at the back to thread the lead through

Length 49 3/4" - 53 3/4" Width 3 1/4 at shoulder down to 2 7/8"on the ends

Pete's comment
I got the strap today! It is absolutely awesome... and Max Rockatansky would have definitely had one!
I cannot get over it! In my wildest imagination it could not have been better Chantal
